Stroke Rehabilitation and Physiotherapy in Indirapuram
After a stroke, the brain can reorganise itself to recover lost function. That process depends heavily on practice: lots of it, focused on real tasks, started as early as it's safe. Physiotherapy provides the structure for that practice.
Recognise a stroke fast
Sudden face drooping, arm or leg weakness, slurred or confused speech, loss of vision or balance, or a sudden severe headache: call an ambulance immediately. Clot-dissolving treatments work only within a short time window. Every minute counts.
How recovery happens
Brain cells lost in a stroke don't regrow, but surrounding areas can take over functions. This neuroplasticity is driven by repeated, meaningful practice. It's usually fastest in the first three to six months, though improvement can continue well beyond that.
What rehab involves
Early on: positioning, preventing shoulder pain and stiffness in the weak side, sitting balance, and getting up from the bed safely. Then standing, weight shifting, walking with support, and arm and hand use.
We favour task-specific training: practising real movements like reaching for a cup, standing up from a chair, walking to the bathroom, many times over. Body-weight supported walking lets people practise stepping before they can fully bear weight. For the arm, we use exercises that encourage the weak hand to do more, since the stronger side tends to take over.
Family and home
Most stroke recovery happens at home, not in therapy sessions. We train family members to help safely with transfers and exercises, and set up a home programme that fits daily routine. Home visits across Indirapuram, Vaishali, Vasundhara and Noida make it easier to train in the actual environment.
Exercises often used for Stroke / Cerebrovascular Accident
These are exercises our physiotherapists commonly include. Which ones suit you, how many and in what order depends on your assessment and stage of recovery.
Medical note
This page is general information, not a diagnosis. Treatment is planned after an in-person assessment by a physiotherapist, and we refer you to a doctor where symptoms need medical review first. If you have sudden weakness, loss of bladder or bowel control, chest pain or severe unexplained pain, seek emergency care.
Frequently asked questions
When should rehab start after a stroke?
Is recovery possible after six months?
How many hours of practice are needed?
What is Stroke / Cerebrovascular Accident?
A stroke happens when blood supply to part of the brain is blocked or a vessel bleeds, damaging brain cells and affecting movement, speech or sensation.
What causes Stroke / Cerebrovascular Accident?
Blocked arteries from clots or narrowing, and bleeding from ruptured vessels; risk factors include high blood pressure, diabetes, smoking and heart disease.
What are the common symptoms of Stroke / Cerebrovascular Accident?
Common symptoms include weakness or numbness on one side, facial drooping, speech difficulty, balance problems and vision changes.
How is Stroke / Cerebrovascular Accident diagnosed?
It is usually diagnosed with emergency CT or MRI of the brain.
Can physiotherapy help with Stroke / Cerebrovascular Accident?
Yes. Physiotherapy is central to stroke recovery, with the fastest gains in the first months. Our neuro physiotherapy programme is built around this.
What are the goals of physiotherapy for Stroke / Cerebrovascular Accident?
To recover movement, walking and balance, use the affected arm, and regain independence.
What treatments may be used for Stroke / Cerebrovascular Accident?
Treatment usually combines exercises such as shoulder flexion, hip extension and hip flexion with overhead track and harness therapy, TENS therapy and dynamic compression therapy. Hands-on treatment, education and activity advice are added as needed, and the plan changes as you progress.
